| Lobo's Best and Worst Films of 2003
The Best of 2003 (Howls number, order of preference
and a comment or two)
1. The Dancer Upstairs = 9.5 (It had the Javier Bardem factor).
2. Swimming Pool = 9 (It seems you either loved or hated this one).
3. American Splendor = 9 (Can't get this gem out of my head).
4. Lost in Translation = 9 (Ditto)
5. Magdalene Sisters = 9 (Not enough people have seen this great film).
6. Master and Commander = 9 (Not a ship of fools).
7. Mystic River = 9 (Catch this one if you missed it -- it is still
around).
8. Capturing the Friedmans = 9 (I received the most mail about this
film)
9. The Station Agent = 9 (a great little film -- no pun intended).
10. 21 Grams = 9 (How much does an Oscar weigh?)
11. My Architect = 9 (I originally gave this an '8' but have revised
it to a '9')
The Worst of 2003 (in no particular order of eye-rolling
bad)
1. The Matrix Reloaded = 2 (Re-Bloated was my alternate title on this
one).
2. The Human Stain = 3 (the human drain was more like it).
3. Northfolk =3 (Even with Nick Nolte, it stunk).
4. Down With Love = 3 (down with this film).
5. Man Without a Past = 3 (movie without a plot).
6. Camp = 4 (a big disappointment)
7. Intolerable Cruelty = 4 (paying to see this was intolerable).
8. Legend of Suriyothai = 4 (Made no sense and went on and on and on)
9. The Guru = 5
