| Movie Review: Dr. Bronner's Magic Soapbox Alternate Title: One Nation Under Soap
Story: Quirky is an understatement
for this intriguing documentary by director and writer Sara
Lamm about Dr. Emanual Bronner. With a broad
and colorful palette she covers his philosophy of life, his family and
his Pure-Castile Soap. Dr. Bronner (1908 -1997) - A Life Dedicated to
God, Mankind and Spaceship Earth (really). Bronner emigrated to the US from Germany in 1929.
He was a third generation master soap maker from Heilbronn, Germany.
Most of his family died in the Holocaust. He started his company in
California with a product he thought could change the world and a philosophy
that needed to be shared. From his lectures, to a time in an insane
asylum to a cultural icon of the 1960's his message was spread far and
near. The film focus' on his remaining son Ralph, who
preaches his father's lifestyle to anyone who will listen. He shares
random acts of kindess and generosity as he travels the land. The company
is run today by Bronner's grandchildren who have devoted themselves
to his philosophy. The company's philopshy can be found on their
website. Check out the Dr Bronner website here: http://www.drbronner.com/index.html
Here is a website devoted to Dr. Bronner's wisdom
