| Movie Review: Interview Story: Not only has Australia blessed us with Russell
Crowe but they are also giving us great movies. And The Interview
is another one. I am an avid mystery/crime/drama/police interrogation
junkie. If you enjoy a good grilling of a suspect by the police this film
is for you. Almost the entire film takes place in one interrogation room,
but the brilliant direction by first time film maker Craig Monahan,
who also co-scripted creates a large Gothic, shadowy almost noir look
to the intense grillings. Stark camera angles, deep shadows and different
replays of a scene keeps one riveted to the ensuing dialog. Is the suspect
being railroaded? Or is he just a clever serial killer? The Interview
changes the focus on who is the real villain throughout the film.
I was entranced throughout. The only downside was that perioduically there
should have been some subtitles because of the heavy accent.
Acting: The fabulous Hugo Weaving (Proof',
The Matrix) as the suspect is a treasure to watch. His range, his
wonderful eyebrows and chiselled face are all perfect. Tony Martin,
as the detective is a fine match for Weaving.
